Arts Wednesday 26 June 2013
I really am looking forward to returning to Arts Wednesday this week after 5 weeks away! I continue in the first half hour with Part 4 of the series on The Violin Family and this week we continue the story about making a new violin.
At 11:00 am I’ll play an interview I recorded with Philippe Peltier, Senior Curator of Oceania at Musee du Quai Branly in Paris and we talked about the installation on the roof of the museum by Australian artist Lena Nyadbi. The installation is unusual, in that visitors to the museum can’t see it: it’s visible only from the Eiffel Tower or Google Earth. You can get an idea of how it looks from the image attached.
In the last half hour, Isidro Blasco will be in the studio, taking pictures of me and the studio for his next project and he will stop snapping to tell us a bit about the project. Isidro was in Sydney almost 2 years ago for Art and About and an exhibition at Dominik Mersch Gallery and was a guest on Arts Wednesday at that time.
Because I spent most of my time away in France, it will be mostly French music, including the violin pieces to open and close that I’m playing during the course of The Violin Family series.
