A Taste Of Honey August 1 2013
Two of my favourite people are guests at home this week from New Zealand-Dale and Gilli Wrightson.Dale was the principal in an advertising agency when I first joined Polygram New Zealand and his mentorship on music, risk taking and general creativity was responsible for making my career in music so successful. He ‘pushed the end of the envelope’ in terms TV music marketing which resulted in some of the biggest per head of population results globally for NZ on albums such as ‘Hot August Night’,’Saturday Night Fever’,’Grease’ to name but a few and introduced me to amazing artists such as Al Stewart(pic left)and pioneered soundtrack marketing in conjunction with the film distributors, such as ‘A Star Is Born’(pic rt.)Following a brave campaign, both Streisand and Kristofferson became superstar album sellers on both sides of the Tasman. We became part of each others families and 43 years on we are still loving our music together with a glass or two of good wine, great food and each others company. Thanks Dale for everything and I hope this playlist does some justice to the artists that you helped me discover and that the listeners in EastsideFMland enjoy this flashback of a smidgen of the last 43 years xxx
