A Taste Of Honey August 8 2013
Emiliano Zapata(pic.rt.) was a true hero(and martyr)of the Mexican Revolution and he was born on August 8 1879-I am fascinated by the history of Mexico and its music and in celebrating his birthday have selected two classic corridos(folk songs)sung by Nat King Cole(pic.left).J JCale’s legacy in music(he passed away on July 26 2013) is that his loose,laid-back music provided successes and inspiration for many other artistes including Eric Clapton and many of his songs became “rock standards” made famous by artistes other than himself. In 2006 he made the statement “I would probably be selling shoes today if it wasn’t for Eric”.There is some truth in that but it all starts with the song and he wrote them and wrote them them well…more great music next week.
