Oscar Peterson(pic.left) was born on this day in 1925.He released over 200 recordings,won 8 Grammys in a career lasting more than 60 years.One of Canada’s favourite sons his career blossomed when he joined Norman Granz’sVerve records and the rest is history-a career that I am unable to do justice to, in this short blog.SylvieVartan(pic.rt.)is another fascinating artiste celebrating her birthday today-married to Johnny Hallyday she was responsible for doing French covers of US pop music and pioneered the “yeah yeah” style in francophone countries.Throw in a few absolute ’50’s classics and you have 80 minutes plus of music guaranteed to make your week….next week who knows what will follow but the sounds will be “suite”- I promise!!
