Arts Monday’s Jane Raffan Delves into Sydney’s Shadowy Past with Curator Nerida Campbell
Arts Monday’s Jane Raffan interviews curator Nerida Campbell about the exhibition City of Shadows, currently on show at the Justice and Police Museum, Circular Quay.
The exhibition focuses on the victims, perpetrators and vicinities of crime in Sydney from 1912 to 1948, and is drawn from Sydney Living Museums’ extraordinary and compelling collection of police forensic photography.
The exhibition’s original curator Peter Doyle – yes, the crime novelist! – described it as ‘an intimate, raw and hauntingly beautiful record of the mysterious people and dark places of a Sydney lost’.
