Meet Martha Marlow – 2013 Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition Nominee
Here at EastSide Fm we love discovering new musical talent. However, when coming across young Sydney singer/songwriter Martha Marlow all the discovering had been done as Martha Marlow has already begun making her musical mark on the Australian musical world. At the age of 19, Martha Marlow has already performed at leading city venues and performed alongside infamous Australian musical talent.
Over the past year Martha Marlow’s journey to success has been extremely fast paced. She has recently become the voice of the “Australian Nurses Federation” and performed the song “You couldn’t be in better hands” in their recent ad campaign. She also recently performed at the Cockatoo Island Festival whilst supporting Australian acts Blue juice, Jinja Safari and Matt Corby. Martha is also currently working on her debut EP that will be released in September this year.
Just recently Martha was chosen alongside with 34 other singer/songwriters as finalists for the Vanda & Young Songwriter Competition. This competition gives these singer/songwriters an opportunity to be heard, invest in their career and to make a difference.
2013 marks the third year the Vanda & Young Songwriter Competition has been held. This years winner will be joining a select group of previous winners that currently includes 2009 winner Megan Washington and 2011 winner Kimbra Johnson. The top three finalists will be announced on Friday the 16th August.
Martha will be performing at one of our favourite venues 505 in Surry Hills on Monday the 16th September so head on down and check out her amazing musical talent.
