Resurgence – Duende
Mark Isaacs’ Resurgence project has attracted two ARIA Award nominations and tours widely in Australia and Asia, playing major festivals such as Tokyo Jazz Festival, Melbourne International Jazz Festival and recording a TV special for South Korean national TV.
In this fourth release in the series the stunning line-up of the cream of award-winning Australian instrumental talent is joined by the brilliant young Australian vocalist Briana Cowlishaw, who at the tender age of 24 has already recorded two albums in New York.
From the tuneful and immediately accessible You Never Forget Love (lyrics by Mark Isaacs) to the hard- hitting New Lives or the bitter-sweet title track Duende, Resurgence’s mix of virtuoso playing, gorgeous vocal and lyrical or grooving compositions by Isaacs reclaims the good name of jazz fusion with its heady brew of soul, gospel, classical, blues, Latin and R&B influences.
