Join me, Jane Raffan, for an in-depth look at the work of one of our most dynamic contemporary artists, Tony Albert.

Tony Albert’s solo show Brothers is currently on at Sullivan & Strumpf, Zetland. https://sullivanstrumpf.com/exhibitions/

His 2008 series Optimism is currently featured in String Theory at the MCA, Circular Quay. https://www.mca.com.au/exhibition/string-theory-focus-contemporary-australian-art/

His work SORRY, 2008 is currently featured in I Still Call Australia Home at GOMA, Brisbane.

His large scale installation Making Change is part of the new COFA UNSW Galleries exhibition of the same name. https://www.cofa.unsw.edu.au/events/archive/880

And he has also been nominated for a 2013 Deadly Award for his contribution to the arts. https://www.deadlys.com.au/

And the music? We’ll be listening to an artist selection of music that has influenced his thinking and his works – Bob Dylan, David Bowie, 2Pac, Bob Marley, Rolling Stones – as well as songs from some of our famed and less well known Indigenous musicians: Archie Roach, Stiff Gins, Troy Cassar-Daley, Dan Sultan, Busby Marou and No Fixed Address.

As always, I look forward to your company, 10:30 to noon.

Jane
