Ute Lemper returns to Sydney

Famed for her interpretation of works by artists like Kurt Weill and Edith Piaf, the mesmerizing German cabaret superstar Ute Lemper returns to the Opera House Concert Hall on the 23rd of September.
Ute will be perform songs from her much-loved cabaret repertoire, built during a career spanning Berlin to Broadway.
Along with seminal works from Berthold Brecht, and the French Chanson Book, the evening will include musical adaptations of the poems of Charles Bukowski and Nobel prize-winning Pablo Neruda. Neruda wrote these sensual poems on the Chilean Isla Negra while in exile, and is widely considered “the greatest poet of the 20th century in any language” according to Colombian novelist Gabriel García Márquez.
Lemper’s breathtakingly vocal and dramatically visual presentation of the poetry has been universally praised, and she is widely celebrated for her intense musicality, dynamic performances and stunning persona.
Throughout her broad and varied career, Lemper has made her mark on the world stage in cabaret theatre, in films, live in concert and as a unique recording artist with her own compositions as well as more jazz-influenced collaborations. Her solo concerts have been produced in prestigious venues throughout the world and include concerts with Michael Nyman and a jazz series with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Orchestra at Rose Hall in New York City, as well as concerts with the world’s best symphony orchestras from Buenos Aires to Sydney.
