What a Wonderful Week

Five days ago I came to Eastside Radio in Paddington for a week of work experience. At first I was taken by surprise, the hustle and bustle of a radio station was a little overwhelming, but I quickly found my feet and began learning.

I was given the tasks of writing posts on the Eastside website, sorting through the CD catalogue, taking calls for the station and passing them on to the required person, and I was even allowed inside the studio while a show was being pre-recorded. I have learned what it takes to run a community radio station, be a sound engineer or a radio presenter. These skills are not learned overnight and take an immense amount of one’s free time.

The people at Eastside are thoroughly enjoyable to be around, everyone is always in good spirits and smiles can be seen everywhere. It is the sort of place where you can be yourself and be accepted, at Eastside all we are really worried about is getting the good music out there and leaving our listeners feeling good.

I  would recommend to people of all ages to come down and volunteer at Eastside. At the station you are given memories, knowledge and a love for all kinds of music.

To volunteer now give us a call on 9331 3000

or you can reach Tony Smythe (Station Manager) on his email tony@eastsidefm.org
