Event in aid of the Association « Cure our Kids, New Caledonia »

The tennis tournament of the Francophone and Francophile Community will be held for the third year at Eastcourts Kingsford Tennis Club on October 13th, 2013. This event brings together many people of the Sydney area. Players, both adults and juniors, of high level enrol themselves each year and deliver a quality game. It will take place at the Tennis Club of Kingsford (8 clay-courts, cafe, terrace, green spaces).

This year the tournament offers:
-Men’s singles (16 years and over) opened to 32 players
-Mixed Doubles opened to 16 teams
-Junior singles (11-15 years) opened to 20 juniors
The draws could be adjusted according to the enrolments.

This tournament is organised for the third time to the benefit of the association “Cure our Kids, New Caledonia.”
All profits are donated to the association whose mission is to improve the day-to-day quality of life of children of New Caledonia with cancer and their families during their long treatment at Westmead Children’s Hospital.

The New-Caledonian Association is a non-profit organisation conforming to a law passed in 1901 and has officially started its activity in 2009. It offers a range of practical services and information resources to all families of New Caledonia facing cancer diagnosis of their child.
The aim of the association is to raise the necessary funds to finance, sustain and develop its initiatives. The funds raised last year at the 2012’s tournament enabled them to take the children and their parents to the show “Cirque du Soleil”.

Pierre Dilda, the organiser of this event, is a cancer researcher for the Lowy Cancer Research Centre, Faculty of Medicine, University of New South Wales. In addition to his professional activities, Pierre Dilda regularly gets involved in the local community and organises charitable and educational events (Race against Cancer to the benefit of the Cancer Council NSW, information to donors and volunteers, laboratories tours …).

He will be interviewed soon on ForeverFrench.
