A Taste Of Honey October 3 2013
Johnny Burke(pic.right)spet the majority of his career as a songwriter for Paramount Pictures and is regarded as one of the finest lyricists of popular songs between 192o and the end of the 50’s.In celebrating the anniversary of his birthday today,I could not go past the New Zealand re-imagineer of standards,Miss Whirimako Black(pic.left)who kicks off the section of dedication to Johny Burke with ‘Misty’, music by Errol Garner and lyrics by Johnny Burke. In addition songs featuring his lyrics from Sir Paul McCartney,Frank Sinatra & The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra,Ella Fitzgerald,Count Basie,Paul Anka & Michael Buble and Peggy Lee.Summer is well on its way(actually I believe its here already) and Gal Costa,Rita Lee, Sarah Vaughn and Eddie Cochran round of the show with music that is HOT!!!…..I’m thinking DooWop for one of the future TOH’s….ANY REQUESTS ??
