A Taste Of Honey October 10 2013

fleetwoodsthe plattersDoo-wop is a style of vocal based rhythm and blues developed in the African -American communities in the 1940’s and achieving mainstrream popularity in the 1950’s and early 1960’s.Vocal group harmonies, nonsense syllables,a simple beat and sometimes little or no instrumentation, simple music and lyrics on originals or stylised standards. From The Mills Brothers and The Inkspots, from The Platters(pic.left)to The Everly Brothers. From The Fleetwoods(pic.right) to the Chordettes-the sound thrilled audiences globally and and one can hear the influence that Doo-wop had on The Beach Boys,The Four Seasons,The BeeGees to name but a few of the super successful groups of the later part of the 20th Century.28 tracks of Doo-wop today only just touches the surface of this genre that has proven its longevity and there are many and varied compilations of this music available via distributors of music both digital and physical worldwide-this music is fun, vibrant, easy to sing along to and certainly very plentiful-perhaps another show in the new year-its only 3 months away !!!!
