Panorama Do Brasil – The Archer & The Dancer

Eastside Radio’s album of the week is The Archer & The Dancer by Panorama Do Brasil.

Recorded live at the Bennetts Lane Jazz Club in Melbourne, this 5-piece act of Brazilian inspired brilliance has put together a stunning compilation of instrumental classics. The Archer & The Dancer combines the slow groove of a subtle Brazilian influenced baseline with the lighter touches of the flute and nearly every key from the piano to create a sound that is upbeat, optimistic and beautiful.

With composition entirely in the hands of percussionist Alastair Kerr, this album boasts many different moments. While tracks such Wardobophone and O Jogador boast punchy sounds that are more brooding, sensual and dance inducing, others, such as Capoeira Do Carlos and Sertão boast a lighter and more soaring sound that transports you into reverie.

It’s this variation in musical landscapes that makes this album completely stunning. An interesting listen that comprises elements of jazz, country and folk, and what makes this the perfect choice for Eastside Radio’s album of the week.
