Aznavour …From Today is a musical journey that will take you through more than half a century of the legendary French-Armenian singer-songwriter Charles Aznavour’s most memorable songs. Besides being one of France’s most popular and enduring singers, he is also one of the best-known composers in the world. Aznavour is known for more than 60 films, has composed about a thousand songs in English, Italian, Spanish, French and German, and has sold well over 100 million records. In 1998 he was named Entertainer of the Century by CNN and users of Time On-Line worldwide, with nearly 18% of the total vote, edging out Elvis Presley and Bob Dylan. In 2009, he was appointed ambassador of Armenia to Switzerland, as well as Armenia’s permanent delegate to the UN at Geneva.
For the last decade, multi-award winning singer Milko Foucault-Larche has performed the music of Aznavour in Theatres, Cabarets, Clubs, Theatre Restaurants & Casinos and has emerged as one of the leading Ambassadors of French popular music in Australia. He made his International debut in New York giving sold out performances of the Aznavour show at the Dome Cabaret. In 2009 he released in Australia the first Aznavour album by an Australian recording artist, with the blessing of Aznavour. 2013 marks the 10th anniversary of Foucault-Larche’s unique Aznavour tribute show in Australia.
Under the skilled Musical Direction of John Watson, and accompanied by The Sydney Cosmopolitan Quartet and special guest guitarist Jim Pennel, Aznavour …From Today will feature all the greatest hits of Aznavour – “You And Me”, “Old Fashioned Way”, “She”, “Yesterday When I Was Young” and many others. The show is performed in both English and French, paying tribute to some of Aznavour’s favourite collaborators: George Garvarentz, Jacques Plante, Gilbert Becaud, Bob Morisson, Francoise Dorin and Herbert Kretzmer, who have all provided sublime English translations.
