A Night At The Carousel Club
Dallas, Texas circa 1963.
Fifty years ago America lost its innocence. Who are we kidding? – Dallas in the sixties was already a long way from innocent. Take a trip back to Jack Ruby’s notorious Dallas strip joint, and spend a night at “The Carousel Club” right here in Sydney, at The Vanguard, Newtown. On the evening of the 21st of November The Vanguard will recreate this this dark and thrilling underworld for only one night.
The Mu-Meson Archives present a plunge into the past, commemorating the assassination of John F Kennedy, the shooting that shocked the world.
With sensational live burlesque acts, hard-edged stand up comedy, bump and grind musicians, bar room crooners and a special guest appearance from Perry Keyes singing “The Ballad Of Jack Ruby”, all under one roof. This is a night not to be missed, and a chance to wear your best slingbacks and beehive combo. Bring out the big hair, the sharp suits and the sequins, so you blend into the crowd.
• Big screen newsreels, rare archival footage and a truly different spin on the infamous Warren Commision outcome.
• Witness scenes from “Naughty Dallas” shot in the Carousel Club itself by cult film director Larry Buchanan, just 3 months before the assassination.
• Hear and see the jailhouse testimony of the supposed grassy knoll shooter “James Files” – UNCUT!
• Win original artefacts of the time (Life magazines, newspapers etc!), prizes awarded for best dressed players and political figures of the day.
