The Vampires – Tiro
Eastside Radio’s album of the week is Tiro by The Vampires.
A soulful groove of bass and drums makes for a stellar underlay as the excitingly jittery horns take focus of this fantastic album. With the signature overtones of classic jazz, these four Sydney-siders have created a work that speaks volumes of their talent.
Tiro is a vast plane of musical landscapes. With the introductory song Mandala that oozes a reggae influence, through to the seventh track Zen Cowboy that holds a subtle reminiscence of rumba; the album is a broad collection of stories and feelings that combine for an intriguing and powerful sound. Through these eleven tracks nothing is more noticeable than the horns as they both contrast and compliment each other in their journey.
Jeremy Rose, Nick Garbett, Alex Boneham and Alex Masso have created a work that is captivating and is now an essential piece for any true jazz fan.
The boys will be launching this fantastic record at Circular Quay’s beloved Basement, an album which Jeremy himself has described as a “a new direction for the group”. But with high-ratings from publications such as The Australian and The Advertiser, this direction is taking Australia by storm.
