My time working at Eastside FM

Hello, I’m Curtis and i am here at Eastside FM for my first day of work experience. I am in year 10 at Tempe High School and am currently participating in the schools work experience program, for this i have chosen and luckily been accepted to take part in work experience here at Eastside FM.

Already having a part-time job i decided to explore and find a new job outside my own for work experience that i thought would be interesting, i had a few other options to choose from such as K-mart and Woolworths, but i knew both of these options would be quite boring and neither would be as interesting as getting to work inside a radio station for a week. What went on inside a radio station and how things where run was something i always wondered as a kid. Tony showed me around the place firstly showing me the studio where the radio was recorded on air along with another studio where things were pre-recorded. I for one don’t know much about Jazz music, but the place has a very large jazz collection along with other genre’s.

I spent my first hours reading a booklet which included things i needed to know about when working here, like answering the phone, greeting guests at the door, and other essentials. I am looking forward to the rest of the week working here and what i will learn, i hope to get out of this a better idea of the radio industry and to learn more about it, as i see it as a interesting area of work to which i could perhaps pursue in the future.

Follow Up

To finish up I enjoyed my stay at Eastside radio, as it had a very nice relaxing and laidback environment. I am happy to have gone with this place as work experience rather than my other options and would like to thank Eastside for having me here it was a great experience.
