Food Truck Fridays

Sydney’s Food Trucks are celebrating their success by inviting fans of delicious late-night meals to a new monthly event.

Not your average post-pub kebab stand, the chefs of the Sydney Food Trucks make a trip out for a meal from a van an end in itself, with an emphasis on fresh local produce in inventive combinations, right when you want it.

An array of food trucks will gather on the first Friday of every month to hold StreetFest Food Trucks United. The trucks will trade from 5pm at Belmore Park (along Eddy Avenue, near Central Station).

Lord Mayor Clover Moore said Sydney’s growing food truck industry was responding to the need for new dining options after dark. “This new monthly food truck event is part of our ongoing work to create a world-class night-time economy across Sydney,” the Lord Mayor said. Sydney’s food trucks trial emerged as a direct result of the City’s OPEN Sydney community consultation, when Sydneysiders told the City they wanted more high quality, accessible and affordable takeaway food options late at night.

A directory of the food trucks’ menus and trading locations can be found on the Sydney Food Trucks website or by downloading a free smartphone app (search for Sydney Food Trucks for either iPhone or android. Links are here.).

December is the best possible month to treat yourself to a Friday evening al fresco, and the location could not be more convenient or the results more delicious.
