What better way to kick off 2014 in style then spending it right here in Sydney at the famous Sydney Festival. This January from the 9th till the 26th experience an array of culture that encompasses theatre, music, opera and cabaret. There are so many amazing events planned for this year’s Sydney Festival, with acts scattered all over venues citywide.

One performance that is so close to home you would be able to hear us shouting from the rooftops is the electric ‘Bombino’. Playing only two nights at the Spiegeltent, Hyde Park, this is surely a performance that shouldn’t be missed.

Omara ‘Bombino’ Moctar, hailing from the country of Niger has long had a passion for music, and it definitely shows. The internationally acclaimed Tuareg guitarist and singer-songwriter experienced rebellion and hardship in his town whilst growing up. This has impacted immensely the way “Bombino” delivers his music, as he aims to remind his audience to be aware of who they are but also come to terms with who they could be.

Bombino’s most recent album ‘Nomad’ recorded alongside ‘The Black Keys’ has been named among NPR Music’s 50 Favourite albums of 2013, along with Rolling Stone‘s list of the 50 Best Albums of 2013. This album showcases all of the talent and passion that Bombino has for his music and the story that it tells. The effort and love that Bombino lavishes on his music is amazing to witness, and will surely create a night that you will absolutely remember.
