Bluesfest Touring introduces the voice that is: “an emotional, blues-drenched instrument that ranges from a lilting slap to a knock-you-backwards uppercut”: a.k.a
TRIXIE WHITLEY.

In 2011 as the lead singer of Black Dub, (with super-producer Daniel Lanois’ (U2, Bob Dylan) project), TRIXIE WHITLEY blew away audiences with a voice and presence far beyond her now 25 years experience.
TRIXIE’s debut album, “Fourth Corner” followed suit, exploring a rainbow emotion from infatuation to rage to unadulterated happiness and crippling loneliness.

TRIXIE WHITLEY entered the world of music at the tender age of 3 after her debut appearance alongside her father and renowned singer-songwriter Chris Whitley. Quitting school at 17; TRIXIE began grinding out burgers by day in a local NY dive – and developing her musical style by night; earning enough to record her first EP Strong Blood. EP in hand, she and her mother went to a Belgium music festival where Daniel Lanois was performing alongside drummer Brian Blade, best known for his work with Joni Mitchell and Wayne Shorter.

At her mother’s behest, she thrust a copy of Strong Blood into Lanois’ hand. Leaving her fate in the hands of the musical gods, she returned to New York.“back to that shitty restaurant and it got to the point where I was going to ditch music and go back to school,” says Whitley. “But when I got home that day, Daniel called. I screamed.”

Lanois invited her to Boston to record. This was the performance to land her the top job as lead vocalist of Black Dub. With the Black Dub shows, countless solo gigs in New York and Europe, and buzz-building around festival performances like Bonnaroo, SXSW, and Celebrate Brooklyn, TRIXIE WHITLEY became one of the most talked about new artists of 2013.

Bluesfest Touring invites you to come on a spiritual journey with TRIXIE WHITELY. Witness her debut Bluesfest sideshow’s showcasing her iconic soul blues and rock infused vocals for two intimate nights only!
