I’ll be chatting with curator Nerida Campbell from Sydney Living Museums (formerly Historic Houses Trust) about Suburban Noir, the latest exhibition employing the talent of crime novelist Peter Doyle, who has been delving into the police forensic photographic archive to uncover stories of crime in suburban Sydney during the 1950s and 1960s.

In tandem with his cache of over 200 photographic images, Doyle invited 15 artists to respond to the archive, and their works offer a fascinating contrast.

I’ll also be chatting with artist Patrick Pound, whose exhibition of found photographs, People who look dead but (probably) aren’t is currently on show at Stills Gallery, Paddington.

In Pound’s latest work he assembles found photographs in idiosyncratic clusters, enabling odd and unexpectedly common subjects to emerge, and forging relationships between images whose magic lies in ambiguity.

 And the music? … Film Noir scores, jazz and blues evoking the period (think LA Confidential, Chinatown, Body Heat etc).
