Perhaps the master musician of his generation as an outstanding forward thinker, group leader and organizing force in jazz’s continuing progress, post-bop saxophonist and educator Greg Osby has made an indelible mark on jazz music for the past 20 years. He has won numerous awards and critical acclaim for his recorded works and passionate live performances.
Starting off as an in demand sideman for artists such as Herbie Hancock, Dizzy Gillespie and Jack DeJohnette, Osby fast became an artist in his own right and is highly regarded for his insightful and innovative approach to his compositions and performance. A key contributor with of the Brooklyn jazz collective M-Base 1980s with Geri Allen, Steve Coleman and Cassandra Wilson, he went on to release 15 albums on the iconic Blue Note label, before launching his own label, Inner Circle records.
