MUSICAL COLLABORATIONS are many BUT those that work are usually those whereby the ARTISTES themselves have decided to get together(as opposed to the marketing guru’s persuasiveness on behalf of the sales upside).More than just “duets”, today’s show showcases collective vocal,instrumental and writing talents of the chosen artists.With the exception of Cole Porter’s ‘Well,Did You Evah’brilliantly imagined by Bing Crosby & Frank Sinatra,and Buddy Holly’s ‘Everyday’ imagined by Fiona Apple & Jon Brion,the majority of the songs are penned by one or both of the collaborating artistes.Songs that are part of their being from Ben & Ellen Harper(pic.right),Tony Bennett & k.d.lang,Elvis Costello & Burt Bacharach (pic.left),Dan Fogelberg & Emmylou Harris,Stevie Nicks & Dave Stewart,Ray Charles & Betty Carter and more.There is a huge catalogue of amazing collaborations and certainly one that I will trawl for future programmes BUT for today’s show,enjoy a small selection of COLLABORATIONS that these artistes and more perform from their hearts and souls.
