Flautist, Jane Rutter and Sculptor, Michael Purdy on Arts Monday
My first guest: Renowned Flautist, Jane Rutter chats about ‘La Revolution: A Bastille Day Concert’ she is presenting at City Recital Hall on 14 July.
Widely celebrated as one of Australia’s premiere flautists, Jane Rutter is acclaimed as a world-leading example of French flute playing.
Throughout her career, Jane continually draws fans from many fields as she successfully crosses from classical, to pop, to jazz.
The special program for Bastille Day features some of Australia’s best-loved classical musicians, including distinguished soprano, Yvonne Kenny, virtuoso accordionist, Marcello Maio, and outstanding baritone, Andrew Jones.
A musical journey to the heart of Paris, ‘La Revolution’ features accompaniment by renowned instrumentalists: harpist, Owen Torr,
and pianist, Vincent Colagiuri.

My next guest: Multi-award winning Sculptor, Michael Purdy chats about his passion for creating beautiful works from Sydney sandstone.
Michael’s works are found in private collections as well as in public spaces and corporate interiors.
Michael’s Sydney commissions include: Fraser’s Motorcycles showroom; the Steel Restaurant; The Argyle nightclub, The Rocks, and the Sydney Seafood School, Darling Harbour.
His awards include: Bondi Sculpture by the Sea inaugural Sculpture Inside Curators’ Prize 2010; Andrea Stretton Memorial Invitation to Cottesloe 2009; and Allens Arthur Robinson People’s Choice Award 2005.
Michael is based on the South Coast of NSW. He is represented by Maunsell Wickes at Barry Stern Gallery, Sydney.
