National Tree Day this Sunday
Grab your trowels and rakes, pull on your gardening gloves and head down to a park, because this Sunday 27th July is National Tree Day.
The country’s biggest community nature care event is co-ordinated by Planet Ark and encourages everyone to go out and plant a native tree or shrub in their area. The community events put together by local councils welcome volunteers to help plant trees and enjoy the fun, with some councils also offering refreshments, barbecues and even face painting for the kids!
Three councils in Eastside’s area are organising events for the day:
Woollahra residents will be planting a target 500 trees in a section of Trumper park in Paddington from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. For more information and to volunteer please click here
Waverley council will be planting trees at Diamond Bay in Vaucluse from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM For more information and to volunteer please click here
Randwick city council will be giving away trees for volunteers to plant from 9:00am to 12:00pm at their address in Barker st. For more information please click here
So make sure you get out into the parks this weekend and plant some trees! Do your bit for the environment while you connect with your community!
