Arts Wednesday 30 July 2014

At 10:40 am, we continue with Part 4 of Life Interrupted: Personal Diaries from World War 1 with exhibition curator Elise Edmonds. This week we focus on Archie Barwick and his account of service at Gallipoli. Readings from Archie’s diary are by Toby Schmitz, produced by ABC Radio National. RN will commemorate the centenary of WWI over the next four years with special programming exploring 100 years of Australian service from national and international perspectives. To download RN’s recent weekend The Great War: Memory, Perceptions and 10 Contested Questions, go to https://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/worldwarone/about/

Needless to say we are grateful to RN for their kind permission to play the recordings. Other recordings in the series are by courtesy of the State Library of NSW, to whom we are also grateful! The image of Archie is supplied courtesy of the Barwick family.

At 11:00 am, Anna Groden returns to continue our discussion about the Archibald Prize and also to review the Wynne and Sulman prizes as well as the Salon des Refuses.

Music will feature landscapes, in honour of the Wynne Prize.

I look forward to your company!
