The Lost Prince
The Lost Prince was Henry, elder brother of the ill-fated Charles 1. This handsome, talented scion of nobility seemed to embody the virtues of his age but died in 1612 before he could fulfil his anticipated greatness.
His exquisitely rendered portrait, along with that of his sister The Winter Queen, features in a focus exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW. Both portraits from the National Portrait Gallery in London support a season of portraiture around the Archibald Prize Exhibition. Josephine Touma, Senior Coordinator of Public Programs at the Art Gallery of NSW provides some fascinating insight into the Prince, his world and art of the time on Arts Thursday, 17th July 2014 with Maisy Stapleton.
