STILL ALIVE @ Stanley Street Gallery

The Refugee Art Project is proud to present Still Alive: an exhibition of original artworks by asylum seekers and refugees in the Villawood detention centre and the Western Sydney area. The exhibition will feature over 100 works by up to 20 asylum seekers who have fled countries such as as Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Sri Lanka and Burma. It includes work by children in detention and women from the Refugee Art Project’s Parramatta art workshop.

Works include paintings made with instant coffee powder that has been diluted in warm water and then applied to paper.

The Story of our Planet Unfolds @ Customs House

The Story Of Our Planet Unfolds showcases the work of critically acclaimed photographer Michael Hall who since 2007 has been working to document human civilisation’s response to the risks and opportunities of climate change.

CITY OF SHADOWS EXHIBITION @ Justice & Police Museum

Focusing on the victims, perpetrators and vicinities of crime, the original City of Shadows introduced the world to the museum’s extraordinary and compelling collection of police forensic photography dating from 1912 to 1948. You will meet thieves, breakers, receivers, magsmen, spielers, urgers, gingerers, false pretenders, hotel barbers, shoplifters, dope users, prostitutes, makers of false oaths and the occasional murderer.

THE LOST DIGGERS EXHIBITION @ Alliance Française Sydney

From 1915 to 1920, Louis Thuillier and his wife Antoinette shot their souvenir photographs of soldiers from France and Britain, their allies, and their colonies, including Australia, New Zealand, America, Canada, India and South Africa, as regiments from many countries visited the village for rest and recuperation from the front lines.

Many of the photographs are of Australian soldiers from the 1st and 5th Division, taken in November and December 1916, just after they had survived the carnage of battles at Pozieres and Fromelles.

Featuring over 25 restored and original historic cars, AUTO OBSESSION comprises a curious, eclectic and fascinating collection from luxury tourers and family sedans to racing and sports cars.

Iconic cars from Australian automotive history including a 1955 FJ Holden, a 1965 Ford Falcon XP, and a 1970 Chrysler Valiant Regal VF will be seen alongside the lesser-known, but strikingly quirky, 1964 Lightburn Zeta runabout and 1971 Nota Fang IV prototype sports car.
