Artbank and their ‘Message Stick’ Exhibition of Urban Indigenous Art

Arts Monday’s Jane Raffan interviews Carrie Kibbler, former Artbank Curator and Collection Manager about the innovative national contemporary art rental initiative, and ‘Message Stick‘, their latest international touring exhibition focusing on Indigenous identity.

Indigenous artist Bindi Cole has stated that “the role of a contemporary Aboriginal artist is to provoke”. Jane chats with Carrie about this idea, and other messages conveyed by the exhibition, which has just returned to Australia after a three year international tour including the Pacific, Asia and Africa.
