Talking Heads: Stop Making Sense
Arguably “the greatest concert film ever made” marks its 30th Anniversary in 2014 with special screenings around the globe. Now this beautiful, recently restored version of award-winning director Jonathan Demme‘s film hits Sydney, exclusively for Groovescooter’s on-going Cellar-uloid Series of music documentaries. Capturing the big-suited David Byrne and his jerky art-rock group Talking Heads at the height of their prowess, this visually-inventive concert film continues to sear indelible images into the minds of all who see it.
Joined on stage by an all-star, extended line-up that includes keyboardist Bernie Worrell (Parliament/Funkadelic), Alex Weir (The Brothers Johnson), Lynn Mabry (Sly and The Family Stone) and Ednah Holt (Holt45, The Ritchie Family) the group reinterpret Talking Heads classics like Psycho Killer, Burning Down The House, Girlfriend Is Better and even a Tom Tom Club tune by Heads’ super bassist Tina Weymouth. Shifting from stripped back acoustic renditions to highly percussive funk meltdowns, this is a cinematic music experience like no other and will have you dancing in the aisles.
Join us to relive the magic with some special live guests in the bar between movie sessions.
