Raymond Robinson’s Wonderful Vinyl Collection

Who is Raymond Robinson? You may have just asked yourself. Raymond was a dancer from New York City, described by those who knew him as “a very positive, energetic person and a fabulous cook”

Raymond came to Sydney in the mid 80s to teach dance at the Aboriginal Islander Dance Theatre in Glebe. Falling in love with the energy of the place and Aboriginal culture, Raymond made the decision to live in Sydney, settling in Glebe.

A few weeks ago, Eastside Radio became home to Raymond’s Vinyl Record Collection. Donated to the station by Raymond’s friend Michael Glennon, Eastside Radio is now proudly in possession of some rare and well appreciated records from artists including: Marvin Gaye, Lonnie Liston Smith, Nina Simone, Leon Ware, Billie Holiday, John Coltrane and many more.

Shortly before his passing, Raymond wrote a thesis for his Master of Arts Performance Dreaming Tracks inspired by the time he spent working with AIDT.
