Arts Thursday 23rd October, with Maisy Stapleton, brings you Design Antenna, a regular segment focussing on aspects of design.
Design Antenna will focus this week on highlights of the Sydney Architecture Festival which runs from 1st – 10th November 2014.
First up meet John Kirkman, Executive Director of Information and Cultural Exchange (ICE) which is running Bridges Ahoy, a ferry cruise with a difference.
Bridges Ahoy will take you on a ferry cruise of discovery, exploring Sydney Harbour’s iconic bridges from the ANZAC to Uhrs Point Bridge, including Sydney Harbour Bridge. If you’ve ever wanted to know more about the cultural and social histories of our bridges, their artistic and engineering backgrounds and the stories, performances, music and poetry they have inspired, John will reveal how you can take a sunrise or sunset tour that uncovers their stories.
Tim Horton, from the Sydney Architecture Festival, will also provide a run-down of key Festival events, including the intriguingly named Covert Connections, a walking tour through hidden lanes, goat tracks and rat runs in the city.
The Sydney Architecture Festival this year is themed around Connections – The Making of Great City and includes exhibitions, tours, screenings and a public forum on the current and vital issue of major transport projects for the city and the impact these will have on our lives and future.
