Share The Joy Of Giving!

On Wednesday the 12th of November, Kmart in Eastgates Bondi Junction launched their 2014 Wishing Tree Appeal! This very special community charity event is all about residents from the Eastern Suburbs helping people in need this Xmas by donating gifts to the annual Kmart Wishing Tree.

Australia’s largest Xmas gift appeal aims at providing families in need at Xmas time with presents and cash donations in cooperation with the Salvation Army. More gifts are donated every year and are given to the local people who would otherwise go without this festive season.

The Kmart Wishing Tree has already collected more than six million gifts over the past 26 years and this year the event aims at reaching the national goal of raising 500,000 gifts. Naturally the appeal could not be a success without the support of the local community! Once again people are coming together for this worthy cause, generously putting gifts underneath the tree, sharing their spirit of community and also sharing the spirit of Xmas.

Participating is very simple: Just place a gift (wrapped or unwrapped) under the Xmas Wishing Tree located in any Kmart store. Then take a gift tag from the tree to identify the appropriate age and gender of a suitable recipient and place it with your gift – that’s it! You’ll be sending a piece of love to those struggling to afford Xmas presents for their children. And this is exactly what Xmas is about: Giving pleasure to our beloved ones and sharing peace and joy with everyone.

All donated gifts are then categorized for age and gender and afterwards stored in an extra present stock. During the pre-Xmas period, parents in need can come to the Kmart store and choose a nice gift for their children. For many this is areal opportunity for happiness to return on Xmas eve! On top of that, there will be a big Xmas lunch in Redfern on Xmas day, where those families can come together to enjoy a nice and festive meal, forgetting all their sorrows, just celebrating and feeling the greatness of generosity.

So, grab the chance to contribute to the spirit of community and offer everyone the opportunity to have a wonderful and blessed Xmas! Your support is greatly appreciated..
