The Legend Of King O’Malley with Margaux Dombkins
My guest: Director, Phil Rouse, chats about the landmark play “The Legend of King O’Malley’. Originally written in 1970 by Bob Ellis and Michael Boddy, this classic Australian play celebrates one of Australia’s most colourful politicians, King O’Malley, in a wild romp of epic storytelling and melodrama.
This satirical ‘vaudeville’ production combines bawdy cultural references of modern day revivals, the presentation of war from 20th century cinema and the international opinions of Australian politics.
This production is a collaboration with Don’t Look Away, a theatre company dedicated to reviving and invigorating classic Australian plays.
The Legend Of King O’Malley:
Wednesday 26th November to 13th December 2014
The Reginald Theatre, Seymour Centre, Chippendale.
