Arts Wednesday 4 February 2015

This week we start a new series on the Royal Botanical Gardens, looking at its history and various collections areas. Part 1 features Dr Brett Summerell, Deputy Executive Director and Director of Science and Conservation, who takes us through the history of the gardens.

My  special guest this week is art consultant, Anna Groden, making a welcome return to Arts Wednesday and this week she talks about maternity wear in the 19th century. This was the topic for her Master’s thesis, when she was a student at the Courtauld Institute in London.

For the duration of the series on the Royal Botanic Gardens, I will start and finish each show with music about the world of plants and the rest of the show, I’ll feature songs about babies and motherhood.
