Did you know that one in every three readers in Australia, reads poetry?

Join Maisy Stapleton on Arts Thursday 12 February, for interviews with two remarkable Australian poets, and you’ll understand why.

Firstly, meet Anna Kerdijk Nicholson, solicitor by day and poet by inclination; Deputy Chair of Australian Poetry and author of several collections of poetry, including the award-winning Possession (Five Islands Press, 2010).

Anna shares her insight into the art of poetry and some interesting research into readers and writers of poetry in Australia. She also reads the whole of a familiar poem, Core of my Heart. We’re familiar with a few of its line, but not the whole work. Join us to see what it is and listen to Anna’s reading!

Then meet the extraordinary poet Nora Krouk, born 1920 in Harbin, China; a Russian-speaker in her early years and the author of many poems, both in English and Russian. Whether it’s the facts of her well-lived life, her joie-de-vivre or her perceptive views of life through her poetry, Nora Krouk is a fascinating guest on Arts Thursday.

Arts Thursday, with Maisy Stapleton, from 10:30 every fortnight, on 89.7FM.

If you miss the show itself, tune in later by visiting the Arts Thursday program log on the Eastside web site and scrolling to February 12th. You can catch up with other shows you might have missed at the same time!
