This week in Part 4 of Pocket Parks, Laila Ellmoos and I go to Redfern.
My special guest at 11:00 am is Dr Louise Pryke, in conversation with me about the Assyrians. We were all shocked to see valuable Assyrian archaeological pieces destroyed by IS in a museum in Mosul, but who were the Assyrians? When and where was their empire? And why is there such a strong Assyrian diaspora, including a strong community here in Australia?
I have chosen Assyrian music to punctuate my conversation with Louise and, music from other communities of the middle east for the rest of the show.
