BLOOD, SWEAT and TEARS returns to Australia.

_DSC0956

Blood, Sweat and Tears, the iconic American jazz-rock band from the late 60s and 70s return to Australia in September 2015 for a national tour.

It’s been more than four decades since drummer/producer Bobby Colomby and friends assembled the first group to successfully blend rock and jazz into a genre-crossing sound and style. YOU’VE MADE ME SO VERY HAPPY, SPINNING WHEEL, AND WHEN I DIE, HI-DO-HO THAT OLD SWEET ROLL, LUCRETIA MAC EVIL – timeless, classic and, most importantly, enduring, these are songs that sound-tracked a generation and continue to live as some of the greatest and most anthemic in music history. All – and many, many others – were recorded by BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS, the pioneering American jazz/funk/soul/blues/rock’n’roll group who formed in the halcyon days on the late 1960s and continue to this day.

Majestic interpreters of sublime compositions, BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS have popularized material by Laura Nyro, James Taylor, The Band, the Rolling Stones, Billie Holiday and Erik Satie. In the process they turned them into something so unique and their own that they are known simply as BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS performances. Such is the talent and ability within the ranks of this supreme grouping of musicians that they can take any song and own it totally.

Formed in the musical melting pop of 1967 New York City, BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS quickly became a hit making machine. Within two years BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS were amongst the headlining acts at the famous Woodstock music festival as well as selling out concert tours around the globe where they played to massive audiences.

Over the decades BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS have continued to evolve. Members have come and gone as is the case with just about every group – particularly large ones – from that era. But what sets BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS apart from so many groups is that sound – a soaring aural crescendo of soul, jazz and rock melded together in the way that it was pioneered by BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS and continues to be identified with them.  It’s THAT sound which transcends individual musicians. And it’s a sound that can only be created by the most talented and passionate of musicians. In fact, at one time or another, more than 150 musicians have played as part of BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS.  Some – like Al Kooper, Randy Becker, Steve Katz, Mike Stern, Joe Henderson, David Clayton-Thomas and Jaco Pastorious – are household names. But every single one of those past and present members of BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS is a masterful musician and performer. You don’t become part of BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS otherwise.

BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS remain a sound from then and a sound for now. They are unique. They are special. They are timeless.

Australians will once more be able to experience the music and the magic when BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS return for a number of Australian tour date.
