A Taste Of Honey August 6 2015
I just cannot help feeling really sad this week -more than usual over the passing of a POP and ENTERTAINMENT icon. More often than not these days, personalities that we are familiar with pass on – that’s life as we are all aware BUT when that person is someone from your own decade, someone that you sang and danced to at every party, listened to at every opportunity on the radio and even had the opportunity of seeing live in concert, it makes their passing that much more emotional.Someone that you pinned on your wall when new pictures were published and someone who you dreamed about -I did !! The talented and well loved Cilla Black left our mortal world at 72- too early. She was part of the stable of British female stars that included Helen Shapiro, Dusty Springfield, Sandy Shaw,Lulu and Petula Clark – she had songs written for her by Paul McCartney and John Lennon,Burt Bacharach And Hal David and had her hits produced by Sir George Martin. She went from 60’s recording star to Television host and her career spanned 50 years.
Rest in Peace Cilla -your music will continue your wonderful legacy. I hope you feel at ease with the other chanteuses who feature in this weeks program.
