Writers in the Park 2015

If you’re a lover of a good book, a piece of poetry, an entertaining illustration or a good bit of storytelling, then the inaugural literary festival Writers in the Park is just the event for you.

Held amongst the splendour of Centennial Park, the Writers Festival brings together all the lovers of books, literary and literature in a setting that includes the whole community.

Writers, storytellers, publishers, art associations, performers, illustrators, poets, literacy advocates will descend into Centennial Park for a whole bunch of activities, including:

  • The Literary tent with publisher and writer panels, book launches, performances.
  • Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI) story tent with acclaimed Australian authors and illustrators.
  • Stalls with literary feasts both creative and gourmet.

Lucky festival goers will also be treated to some excellent guest speakers, including Jessica Rowe (for her book ‘Is This My Beautiful Life?’), investigative journalist Joanne McCarthy, poet and author Libby Hathorn, author and illustrator Pamela Allen and illustrator Sarah Davis.

The activities of the day won’t just be for the adults. Kiddies will have access to some of the best authors and illustrators in the business. They will get the opportunity to sit with them and learn how to write and draw the way that authors do.

If your idea of a brilliant time is browsing bookstores, meeting with some incredible writers and illustrators, enjoying a cup of coffee and relaxing in Centennial Park, then the Writers in the Park festival is just the ticket for you.
