We’re Moving Our Transmitter!
Recently the landlord of our Transmitter Site approached us with a request to move our antenna. What?! Luckily for us they offered us a new location within the same premises. Phew!!! However that still left us with the massive task of relocating and a time frame of less than 12 months to complete the project.
As a community station we rely on the generosity and support of many individual and businesses to operate annually. And we’ve done our best once again to plan and prepare the relocation of our Transmitter with a cost effective budget and efficient timeframe.
We now have less than 6 months to find $30,000 so that we can perform this task in January 2016.
This Kickstarter campaign will go a very long way towards helping us achieve our goal. In fact, without this contribution we simply could not move within the allocated timeframe. That would mean Eastside Radio would be literally off the air!
So with your assistance and support we can successfully relocate our transmitter to a new position, a better position in fact, where we can reach more people than ever before and continue to give our audience the diverse and eclectic programs they love to hear!

Risks and Challenges
From the moment we were advised of our need to relocate our transmitter we have undertaken considerable panning and preparation to overcome all foreseeable risks. These include two imperative planning permits; one to vary our license with the Australian Communications Media Authority (ACMA) and the other a Development Application with Waverley Council. Both have now been submitted with ample time available for any amendments necessary for approval.
Furthermore, major capital works projects such as ours require experienced professional contractors to ensure a high quality completion. Our relationship with Radio Support Services, RG Systems and A.R.F.C. extends beyond 7 years and they have helped us oversee numerous other projects. Including a switch to stereo broadcasting, implementation of an IP based transmission link and the complete renovation of our station studios.
Currently we have no other pending projects of similar stature meaning this relocation will have our undivided attention.
We have set aside the month of January to undertake this task allowing for a period of 30 days for what is approximately a 3 day job. This will ensure that any production delays can be reasonably overcome with ample time to reschedule without any loss.
Finally as all good capital works projects should include, we have set aside an additional contingency of 5% of the financial budget, to allow for any additional expenditure that might occur once the project has begun.
