Frances Madden to perform live at Foundry 616
Budding jazz sensation Frances Madden returns to the stage at Foundry 616 this December, bringing with her her eight piece band and her soulful and sultry songs that will have you jumping out of your seats for more.
Frances has been labelled the very best new talent to come out of Sydney, with ABC’s Mal Stanley describing her as “a talented young vocalist and pianist and ‘one to watch’“.
For the past few years, Frances has been going from strength to strength in the music scene, having many successful tours all over Australia in sold out venues. Recently she completed a tour of Melbourne that was such a triumph that she’s bringing that tour to Foundry 616 this December.
Madden has been a musical success ever since she graduated from the Australian Institute of Music in 2010 with a degree in music performance. She has worked as a professional musician since then and has performed regularly at jazz clubs and similar venues in Sydney and all over Australia, selling out she shows as she goes.
She considered Foundry 616 her home club and is a regular on their stage to many sold out shows.
Her resume does not stop just in clubs. Frances has also graced the stage of many different music festivals, such as the Manly International Jazz Festival.
The praise for this talented young woman has come from only the very best. Jazz legend James Morrison has said of her, “Frances has a wonderful feeling for jazz and blues standards but what makes her a real stand out are her original songs and unique style.”
She has been likened to a young Diana Krall, Nora Jones and Eva Cassidy with her unique voice and interesting interpretations of the classic jazz songs that are so cool and modern that it breathes life back into these incredible songs that have enlightened jazz lovers for years.
This is true of Frances, whose show is punctuated by the classic jazz songs that we all love, but mostly features her original compositions that fit so smoothly into the set. Her compositions are so reminiscent of classic jazz that the whole show flows effortlessly.
Her band of eight includes renown sax tenor player Jason Bruer and guitarist Tim Rollinson and many more talented musicians who come alive to bring us the magic that is Frances Madden and band.
Check out her sensational rendition of ‘Feeling Good’ at Foundry 616 in June.
Her latest show at The Basement is happening on Friday the 18th of December.
