Finalists for 2015 Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize announced
The finalists for the 2015 Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize have been announced this week with the best of the best in photography set to go head to head for the title of one of the Moran Foundations most prestigious prizes.
Founded in 2007, the Photographic Prize is a relatively new prize, yet it is picking up as one of the most important art prizes in Australia. The idea of the competition is to exhibit the best and brightest in the photography scene.

This year, photographers were given the opportunity to put forward their interpretation of ‘contemporary life in Australia’ with an emphasis on the daily life of everyday Aussies, showing all the good and all the bad about life down under and our modern day diversity.
First prize will received $50,000 cash prize money and the title of winner of the 2015 Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize. There are also cash prizes for high-school students of between $2000-$5000.
This years judges for the prize are Alan Davies, a photographic historian and the first curator of the State Library of NSW from 1989-2014, and Cheryl Newman, a writer and photography consultant based in London.
