Hope in my pocket

Reading through hundreds of letters and diaries this is an insight into the lives of people living with the reality of war. Inspired by the centenary of Anzac Day it celebrates love, human inspiration and most of all hope, all held within a pocket, close to the heart.

Commissioned to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the ANZAC Legacy, Berardi, Foran and Karlen explore this moving historical and personal content whereby we catch glimpses into the hearts and minds of fathers, mothers, wives, girlfriends, sons and friends.

Vocalist Kristin Berardi is one of Australia’s first calls when it comes to jazz. Having won a swag of awards both here and abroad including the Montrauex Jazz Festival’s International Vocal Competition (2006); Freedman Jazz Fellowship (2007); National Jazz Award (2012) and Bell Awards (2012, 2010), Beradi delights audiences with her “warm beautful tone, extensive jazz vocabulary, pop appeal and magical stage presence.” (Chris Walker, USA).

This event is presented by the Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival with support by the Freedman Foundation and The Music Trust.
