Women and Place
Arts Thursday with Maisy Stapleton on 14 January 2016 focussed on place: place-making and the recording of place.
The program was also about women, their contribution to the making and shaping of cities and their empathy with a place, and its influence on their art and creativity.
In this podcast my guest JANE JOSE speaks about urban places, with a broad canvas that stretches across Australian cities.
Jane has recently written Places Women Make – unearthing the contribution of women to our cities.
The book not only redresses the historical gender balance in stories of our cities with tales of extraordinary women who shaped the cities of our past and present, it also inspires women to think about their environment and to speak out about their needs and their views on liveable cities.
Jane is an urbanist, a former Deputy Lord Mayor of Adelaide City Council and now lives and works in Sydney as CEO of the Sydney Community Foundation.
