If you would be interested in keeping our beaches nice and clean 'which I am sure you are', an event that brings a different twist to your usual tidy-up is The Coogee Trash Trade.

The Coogee Trash Trade is a seaside scavenge inspired initiative where beach trash is traded for funky second-hand goods, anything from clothes to shoes or knick-knacks and books.
The Responsible Runners and More Tunes Less Trash teams will be there to get your hands in the sand, hunting for plastics, butts and whatever trash has been left behind.

There will be fantastic musicians that will leave your ears craving more and inspiring speakers lined up to tell you about their zero waste lifestyle.
The event works on a token based system as you grab a bag, go for a forage until you have got all the beach trash you can carry, you then come and trade every 10 pieces for a token. With your tokens you can purchase the second hand goods on offer.

A day out in the beach doing a good deed, while listening to some live music, you may also bring home your new found treasure.

If you love unique sports activities then a race that is certainly not your ordinary "beating the clock" race, is the Manly Inflatable Boat Race.

It is a day full of fun & excitement for everyone, attendees dress in fancy dress and, with an inflatable raft, will paddle a one kilometre course from Manly Surf Life Saving Club to the beach in front of The Corso.
While you are having lots of fun exercising, the annual race is all in aid of charity as well, all funds will be going to two charities: Tour De Cure and Camp Quality.

There will be plenty of activity in the area to enjoy as The Australian Open of Surfing will also have begun.
Even if you are not feeling up for getting in the water go along to cheer your friends on and watch the mayhem unfold.
After you have used all your energy paddling on an inflatable or cheering your team on, there will be a sausage sizzle at The Steyne hotel afterwards.

Are you looking to head along to a great live music session to kick off the month of March?, an instrument that is not often the key player of a stage will be filling the room, with unique sounds, as Marcello Maio will be moving his fingers at speed with his accordion.

Accordion player Marcello Maio and his trio, featuring bassist Mark Harris and drummer Nic Cecire will be bringing you the sounds, in one of our proud sponsors venue.
If you are looking to get your toes tapping then this is the place to go. Marcello's flair and personality come to the fore as he slips effortlessly between various genres and styles.

Being a hugely creative composer whose talents in this area will be very much on display on the night, his trio will perform original compositions from his soon to be released album and a selection of arrangements from the Great American Songbook and Brazilian standards.

Having won the National Accordion Championships for three years and been apart of several jazz bands it is sure to be a talented performance.

An event that may not be in the Eastern Suburbs but sure is interesting is The Stiches and Craft Show. If you are into your arts and crafts then this is going to be one craft lovers haven.

With an array of interactive features, displays and attractions, loads of supplies, classes and seminars, there is something for everyone. There will be a textile art exhibition, a medieval display where you will come across lots of rich French tapestries and embroideries.
There will also be vintage fashions shows, skilled woodworkers, lots of interesting workshops and much more.

Whether it's beading, stamping, quilting, knitting, painting, textile art and more - The Stitches and Craft Show is designed to inspire, delight and touch your crafting heart.

Over the next couple of months you are sure to see adverts and hear discussion about the Sydney Writers Festival as it will be back on again in May.
If you are like so many others and cant wait till then, not to worry as there will be a mini festival next week at Carriageworks and the Seymour Centre.

British novelists Simon Winchester and Andrew O'Hagan will be bringing you on a journey of their work as it will be Winchester’s only Sydney appearance, where he will speak about his new biography Pacific Ocean. His book Pacific Ocean not only tells the story of an ocean but of humanity’s attempts to harness its power.

Next up will be Andrew O'Hagan in conversation with Kate Evans about his new novel, The Illuminations, which is long-listed for the 2015 Man Booker Prize.

Appearing in this mini festival will also be British writer Alexander McCall Smith and best-selling author Elizabeth Gilbert, who will give a personal and uplifting meditation on the elusive nature of creativity.

As we see everyday, Sydney is booming with new ideas and changes to the way we live our lives. An event that will give you the answers and make you ponder questions on the creativity that we see in Sydney, is a panel discussion being held as part of Art Month Sydney - The Engine of Creativity.

Art Month Sydney is a city wide festival that celebrates contemporary art and artists through a rich and diverse program of exhibitions, workshops, panel discussions, artists studio visits, tours, precinct nights and much more.

This particular event The Engine of Creativity - panel discussion, explores the different elements of the artistic eco-system in Sydney, including what it is that makes our city a marketplace for creative production.

Speakers include: City of Sydney Public art consultant, Barbara Flynn, Curator and artist, Glenn Barkley, Managing Director of 107 Projects, Jess Cook and artist Lindy Lee. Moderated by Executive Manager, Creative City of City of Sydney, Alex Bowen.

An arts event specifically dedicated to our main area of coverage here at Eastside Radio is, Art at Night - East Sydney. A walking tour by night to show you all that the creative East Sydney precinct has to offer.

The East Sydney Art at Night trail will include Australia’s longest running commercial gallery, Watters Gallery, right through to spaces showcasing the next generation of creative producers.

Have you come from a home with quite a spacious garden where being stuck for room didn't bother you? On the other hand, have you always wished for more of an open area for you to be able to plant and grow your own food?.
A free event that will show you all the tips and tricks you need to have your own garden is The Growing food in small spaces workshop.

It is an urban food gardening workshop that is designed to help urban residents expand their capacity to grow food on balconies, window sills, shared rooftops and in courtyards.

An opportunity to discover the basics of gardening productively in containers from maximising light and using vertical spaces, to selecting potting mix and seasonal plant species. Within no time you will be cooking vegetables that you have grown on your own apartment balcony.
