Mundane Matters Exhibition

From potato hot dog to pear dress to eggplant balaclava mask, Danling’s spontaneous, childlike yet thoughtful creations reveal an unseen wonderland inside every fruit and vegetable.

Started as a project concreted in self-expression and determination to prove ones talent, graphic designer Danling Xiao tells of the pain she felt, and how 'Mundane Matters' began as a therapeutic meditation out of her career driven ways of thinking.

"Every time I am asked about the concepts of the naming and the imagery I make, I often feel difficult to explain, because pain cannot be articulated in language and what I am doing for Mundane Matters, is simply an act from my instinct, a journal of thoughts and feelings. It doesn’t have a rationale. Neither it is art."

An interesting, and different form of 'art' beginning it's success on instagram, Danling Xiao aka Mundane Matters is now bringing her wicked creations from Instagram to real life, debuting her solo show at Wedge Gallery, Kinokuniya.

New paintings by Spalding at the Stanley Street Gallery

Fascinated with capturing Australia’s mountain landscape as he experiences it, Spalding feels the landscape through his paintings. Up on the worn peaks of our ancient mountain ranges, he observes the intense colours of high altitudes through the sharp, clear light of the mountain air.

“I am inspired by the clarity of light at altitude and the quality of the air. The higher you climb the more vivid the colours become and the landscape has a very broad palette. In many ways the name ‘Snowy Mountains’ seems inadequate to describe a place with such environmental diversity and cultural history”. (Spalding)

Showcasing diversity and delicacy, Spalding's new exhibition at the Stanley Street Gallery continues to emphasise Spalding's talents when it comes to
