Arts Wednesday 4 May 2016

Andy Bromberger joins us for Part 2 of Revolution, Reaction and Romanticism at 10:40 am and this week she talks about Beethoven.

At 11:00 am I’ll be playing an interview I recorded with Maggie Patton, rare books expert at the State Library of NSW about the acquisition of a 1564 book of novellas by Italian monk Matteo Bandello. One of the stories is Romeo and Juliet and the indirect source for Shakespeare’s play. The library has a range of activities to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.

Romeo and Juliet is a story told and retold, particularly in music from opera to rock and I’ll be playing them all.

I look forward to your company!
