shimmering live reads of eco classics

If you missed the shimmering live reads of eco classics performed by Elaine Hudson for Green Velvet in the past couple of months, don’t forget you can still find them on the program page. The most recent and possibly most compelling was an excerpt from Rachel Carson’s first book The Edge Of the Sea, which Elaine chose to accompany with the music of Ruichi Sakamoto. The section she chose followed the Nemo-esque adventures of a fish swallowed by a jellyfish. A photographer snapped a fish in the same predicament in the waters off Byron Bay just last week. The thrust of the Elaine’s reading was the incredible energy we all expend surviving – and how we shouldn’t take it for granted.
